 About Lions

What are Lions? Lions Clubs International was founded in Chicago, in 1917, by businessman Melvin Jones. Since its inception, Lions Clubs International has been dedicated to helping those less fortunate in their communities and around the world. In 1925, Helen Keller challenged the members to be "Knights of the Blind".

Lions Clubs International is the premier service club organization in the world. Today, over 1.4 million men and women in more than 44,600 clubs in 200 countries and geographical areas are active club members.

Lions Clubs International Foundation supports the efforts of Lions Clubs worldwide in serving our local communities and the world community as we carry out essential humanitarian services projects. For more information about LCIF, visit www.lcif.org.
